Distractions.

Distractions can cost you a lot of time and $$$.

Especially, if you want to sell digital products online.

Distractions are expensive, that’s why you want to avoid them at all costs when executing the things that move the needle for your online business.

Let me ask you something….

Have you ever been sitting down in front of your computer knowing what you should do?

Maybe you have to write an email, engage with your audience, launch a campaign, or simply learn something new

Instead, you find yourself wasting your time scrolling on your phone or watching useless videos postponing what you should immediately do.

This is a mental roadblock that happens consciously and unconsciously that prevents you from moving forward and doing what you have to do.

Even on days when you know you have a deadline and only 2 hours or 1 hour to finish an important task, you get distracted with mundane, non-important stuff.

That is why is so important to train your mindset to overcome those mental roadblocks, focus on one thing, and learn to avoid distractions that are sabotaging you.

To be sincere with you, this is something I’ve struggled a lot with in the past.

The problem is that you know very well what you should be doing, but unfortunately, you don’t do it because you get distracted, and even worse you end up postponing things for the next day or week.

And then the cycle repeats, again and again making you lose a lot of time and opportunities.

It wasn’t until I understood the power of blocking my time to do the important tasks (One at a time better) and forcing myself to not do anything else until completing it, that I was able to get better and beat those mental roadblocks.

For example, I’m applying the airplane mode technique as I am writing this email to you.

And so far it’s working wonderfully. ( I’m almost done with this key task !)

For the last 40 minutes, writing this email has been my only task.

My only focus.

If distractions and mental roadblocks are something you are currently struggling with in your business.

I want to recommend this YouTube video summary of “The One Thing” a book by Gary Keller that goes in depth about this topic and that will teach you how to prioritize on the one task that is the most important while avoiding any distractions until it’s done.

Hope it helps,

Martin “battling mental roadblocks” Moncayo

PD. Quick Bonus Tip: something that has helped me overcome this recently, is putting my phone in airplane mode (so that I don’t receive any notifications that may distract me) until I finish the task at hand.
